John Wick 3 Has Officially Cast Halle Berry And More

The last we saw our favorite retired hitman and puppy avenger John Wick in John Wick: Chapter 2, he was in a world of trouble, having been declared officially excommunicado from the Continental and dealing with a global contract out on his head. When it releases next year, John Wick: Chapter 3 will pick up after the events of the last film and find Keanu Reeves' character facing countless threats with no sanctuary to turn to. Joining the action franchise this time around is Halle Berry. The Oscar-winning actress took to social media to confirm her role in the film, check it out: I am Sofia ? #johnwick3 @rikerbrothers A post shared by Halle Berry (@halleberry) on May 21, 2018 at 9:29am PDT We had heard that John Wick: Chapter 3 was eyeing Halle Berry for the female lead, but it is nice to finally get that official confirmation from the actress herself. We don't know much at this point other than that her character will be named Sofia and that she reportedly won't be the film's villain, suggesting she could be an ally for John Wick and potentially even a new love interest. Halle Berry is, of course no stranger to the action genre, having starred as a Bond girl in Die Another Day and just last year in the more comic-booky spy film Kingsman: The Golden Circle. But Halle Berry isn't the only talented actor being added to the cast for this next chapter either, as Angelica Huston and Asia Kate Dillon are also joining John Wick 3.

About Netflix’s Central Park Five: The historic case of The Central Park Five will be brought to life in a new dramatic limited series for Netflix created by Ava DuVernay, who will also write and direct. The narrative, five-episode series will be executive produced by Jeff Skoll and Jonathan King from Participant Media, Oprah Winfrey/Harpo Films, Jane Rosenthal and Berry Welsh from Tribeca Productions, and DuVernay. “I had an extraordinary experience working with Netflix on 13TH and am overjoyed to continue this exploration of the criminal justice system as a narrative project with Cindy Holland and the team there,” said DuVernay. “The story of the men known as Central Park Five has riveted me for more than two decades. In their journey, we witness five innocent young men of color who were met with injustice at every turn – from coerced confessions to unjust incarceration to public calls for their execution by the man who would go on to be the President of the United States.” “This is one of the most talked-about cases of our time and Ava’s passionate vision and masterful direction will bring the human stories behind the headlines to life in this series,” said Cindy Holland, Vice President, Original Content for Netflix. “After powerfully reframing the public conversation about criminality and injustice in 13TH, Ava now turns a new lens to a case that exposes deep flaws in our criminal justice system.” Participant Media’s Jonathan King added, “It’s an honor to be partnering again with Ava, a uniquely tenacious and inspiring artist. The events of this shocking story continue to resonate today, and the way Ava has chosen to focus intimately on the five young men foregrounds the human costs of this kind of tragedy. We are looking forward to working with Netflix, Tribeca and Harpo on Participant’s first scripted episodic series.” Based on the true story that gripped New York and the world, the series will be a five-episode limited, scripted series that exposes the breakdown of our criminal justice system at every phase of the notorious Central Park Five case. Each part will focus on one of the five teenagers from Harlem — Antron McCray, Kevin Richardson, Yusef Salaam, Raymond Santana and Korey Wise — wrongly convicted of raping Trisha Meili in Central Park. The series will span from the spring of 1989, when each were first questioned about the incident, to 2014 when they were exonerated and a settlement was reached with the city of New York. Black Panther Is Officially a $1 Billion Hit

“Black Panther” can’t stop, won’t stop making money at the box office.... Ryan Coogler’s take on the beloved Marvel character grossed nearly $1.08 billion at the global box office in just four weeks, according to estimates published Sunday by Box Office Mojo. It is Disney’s 16th movie to make $1 billion or more, Deadline reported. Four other Marvel Cinematic Universe releases have hit that mark: “The Avengers,” “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” “Iron Man 3″ and “Captain America: Civil War.” But no other Marvel movie has sat atop the box office for four weeks in a row since premiering, according to Box Office Mojo. Domestically, “Black Panther” has grossed $562 million, making it the No. 7 movie of all time in North America when not adjusted for inflation and surpassing “The Dark Knight” to become the second-highest-grossing superhero movie in the United States. While the Wakandan warrior king dominated in the United States, many were eager to see how the movie would fare in some of the biggest global markets. Well, “Black Panther” sat atop of the box office in China and grossed an estimated $22.7 million during its Friday premiere. By Sunday, it had grossed an estimated $66.5 million. And in the process, “Black Panther” bucked any old industry notion that films starring black people are inherent commercial risks in the Asian nation. He added: “It still humbles me to think that people care enough to spend their money and time watching our film.” Here are some other feats accomplished by “Black Panther”: The biggest February release to date, even after adjusting for inflation. The second-highest-grossing Marvel Cinematic Universe movie at the domestic box office. (“Marvel’s The Avengers” occupies the top spot, with $623 million). Tied with “Jurassic World” as the second-fastest movie to reach $400 million at the domestic box office. Both movies hit that mark in 10 days. Only “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” did that faster (in eight days). Made nearly $112 million during its second weekend at the domestic box office, placing it just behind the 2015 Star Wars installment as having the best sophomore weekend ever. The highest-grossing movie with a black director, according to Fandango, even after adjusting for inflation. Has a 97 percent Rotten Tomatoes score, the highest of any comic-book superhero movie. According to Fandango, joins “The Avengers” as the only comic-book superhero movie with a perfect rating on CinemaScore, which polls moviegoers on opening night.

Roxanne, Roxanne, the Lolita "Roxanne Shanté" Gooden biopic that premiered at Sundance last year, is making its way to Netflix on March 23rd ... -- and you can watch its first official trailer below the fold. Shanté rose to prominence as one of the most fearsome battle rappers in Queens, New York back in the 80s when she was just 14 years old. The biopic has some big names attached to it, including Oscar-winner Mahershala Ali (Moonlight, Luke Cage). Chanté Adams, the new actress who plays Roxanne, held her own though and won Sundance's Special Jury Award for Breakthrough Performance. Shanté's journey began when she wrote a track in response to rap trio U.T.F.O.'s Roxanne, Roxanne about a girl who wouldn't respond to their advances. In addition to showing how Shanté became a feared battle rapper in Queens, the Netflix original also explores the difficulties she faced to support her family. Check out the trailer below:

Jordan Peele‘s successful feature film debut Get Out will be competing at the Golden Globe Awards as a comedy.... If Get Out actually receives a nomination then it will likely find star Daniel Kaluuya going up against possible Hugh Jackman (The Greatest Showman), Kumail Nanjiani (The Big Sick), James Franco (The Disaster Artist), Matt Damon (Downsizing), and Steve Carell (Battle of the Sexes), according to a report from Entertainment Weekly. The report also notes that although it does not seem likely that Get Out will receive in supporting nominations, it is possible that Peele could get a Globe nomination for directing if the horror-satire movie gains enough support from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. He had posed as a student throughout the class before Due brought him up to speak to the students about the film. “Today we snuck Jordan Peele into a back row while I was screening a scene from Get Out in my black horror class,” Due had recounted on Twitter. “Then he raised his hand.”

Gal Gadot will only be ‘Wonder Woman’ again if Brett Ratner is out.....

“Wonder Woman” star Gal Gadot is continuing to battle accused Hollywood sexual harasser Brett Ratner by refusing to sign for a superhero sequel unless the movie-maker is completely killed from the franchise. Gadot — who last month backed out of a dinner honoring Ratner, where she was due to present him with an award — is taking a strong stance on sexual harassment in Hollywood and doesn’t want her hit “Wonder Woman” franchise to benefit a man accused of sexual misconduct. Ratner’s production company RatPac-Dune Entertainment helped produce “Wonder Woman” as part of its co-financing deal with Warner Bros. The movie has grossed more than $400 million internationally, and Ratner’s company will take a healthy share of the profits. A Warner Bros. insider explained, “Brett made a lot of money from the success of ‘Wonder Woman,’ thanks to his company having helped finance the first movie. Now Gadot is saying she won’t sign for the sequel unless Warner Bros. buys Brett out [of his financing deal] and gets rid of him.” The source added of Israeli-born Gadot, “She’s tough and stands by her principles. She also knows the best way to hit people like Brett Ratner is in the wallet. She also knows that Warner Bros. has to side with her on this issue as it develops. They can’t have a movie rooted in women’s empowerment being part-financed by a man accused of sexual misconduct against women.” Ellen Page accuses Brett Ratner of outing her Ellen Page accuses Brett Ratner of outing her This past week, Warner Bros. announced it was severing ties with Ratner amid multiple sexual-harassment allegations leveled against him by actresses including Olivia Munn and Natasha Henstridge. Ratner has vehemently denied the allegations through his attorney, Marty Singer. Earlier this month, Gadot posted on Instagram: “Bullying and sexual harassment is unacceptable! I stand by all the courageous women confronting their fears and speaking out. Together we stand. We are all united in this time of change.” Reps for Gadot and Ratner did not comment. A rep for Warner Bros said only, “False.”

LEATHERFACE Trailer (2017) Texas Chainsaw Massacre Prequel......

‘Leatherface’: First NSFW Trailer for the ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ Prequel Is Bathed in Blood...... Get ready to revisit the Texas Chainsaw Massacre mythology with Leatherface, the new horror film that returns to the origin of the infamous killer. The film’s first trailer teases just what sort of movie fans of the franchise are in for. I say “teases” because this first look is really just a collection of creepy scenes that should be familiar–a mask made of human skin, bloody violence, Sawyer Family dinners, etc.–though with contemporary changes afforded by modern effects work and an all-new cast. The story is secondary to the gore in this trailer, but here’s the gist of it: Four escaped mental inmates, played by Jessica Madsen, Sam Coleman, Sam Strike, and James Bloor, get the bloody party started by kidnapping a young nurse (Vanessa Grasse). They’re pursued by local law enforcement, played by Finn Jones and Stephen Dorff; the latter plays Hal Hartman, a deranged Texas Ranger on a mission of revenge against the killer who will become known as Leatherface. And what would a Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie be without the Sawyer Family? Keep an eye out for Lili Taylor, whoo stars as the cannibalistic matriarch, Verna. Leatherface, directed by Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo, is rated R “for strong bloody violence, disturbing images, language and some sexuality/nudity.” Leatherface will enjoy an exclusive DirecTV release on September 21th, with a limited theatrical run and full VOD release through Lionsgate on October 20th.

Chan first starred alongside Chris Tucker in the buddy cop action comedy in 1998 with the duo returning for two more sequels in 2001 and 2007. With ten years now passed since their last on-screen union, Chan has some good news for fans - the fourth installment's script has been written. “For the last seven years, we've been turning down the script, turning down the script,” Chan told Power 106's The Cruz Show, adding: “Yesterday, we just agreed.” He continued: “The script probably at the end of this month will have a second draft and next year, [we'll] probably start. If... Chris Tucker agrees.” According to producer Arthur Sarkissian, however, Chan needn't worry; he previously claimed that Tucker was “on board,” adding: “He said he would love to do it.” The Rush Hour films - all directed by Brett Ratner - follow a pair of police detectives and the series of misadventures they find themselves embroiled in. The franchise's combined global box office gross is $850.6m
