Aretha Franklin reportedly 'gravely ill,' surrounded by friends and family

Aretha Franklin is reportedly “gravely ill” and surrounded by her friends and family in Detroit... Showbiz411’s Roger Friedman reported on Sunday the Queen of Soul's family is “asking for prayers and privacy.” Franklin’s family also confirmed the news to WDIV Local 4. No further details about her health were immediately available, and reps for Franklin did not respond to Fox News’ request for comment. Franklin, who turned 76 in March, has been battling health problems for years, but continued to perform until as recently as last year. Her most recent performance was last November for the Elton John AIDS Foundation in New York. The soul singer was also forced to cancel a series of concerts last summer on “doctor’s orders.” In March, she announced she would not be at New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival because her doctor recommended she take a break from touring. “Aretha Franklin has been ordered by her doctor to stay off the road and rest completely for at least the next two months,” Franklin’s management said in a statement to Rolling Stone. “She is extremely disappointed she cannot perform at this year’s New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival as she had expected and hoped to.” Franklin had been planning on slowing down. Last year, she announced she was preparing to retire following the release of her new album and would be reducing the number of performances she does each year.  "I must tell you, I am retiring this year," Franklin told WDIV in 2017. "This will be my last year. I will be recording, but this will be my last year in concert. This is it." Although Showbiz411 reported Franklin battled cancer in 2010, the singer has long denied she was ever diagnosed. “I don’t know where ‘pancreatic cancer’ came from,” Franklin told Access Hollywood in 2011. “I was sitting there reading the newspaper and it was saying someone in my family said that. No one in my family ever said that to anybody.”

Sorry But Nicki Minaj Wasn’t Finished, Releases New Track With Nas (LISTEN TO AUDIO)

Nicki Minaj’s long awaited and delayed and it almost got released but didn’t and then it did fourth studio album finally dropped on Friday.... But it wasn’t all she had in store for fans. Saturday night Funk Flex debuted another brand new track from rap’s queenmander-in-chief, ‘Sorry’, on his Hot 97 show. The song is the collaboration with Nas that finally explains what they’ve actually been doing on all those platonic sleepovers. The track is thought to be the one that was awaiting clearance from Tracy Chapman, whose phone number apparently no one had, so it wasn’t included in the original release of Queen. But hey if she’s already talking about changing the hook (and name) of Ganja Burns, there’s no reason she can’t just add a whole track a day later. She is The Queen after all.

Nicki Minaj -Coco Chanel- ft. Foxy Brown (LISTEN TO AUDIO)

Nicki Minaj and Foxy Brown are old war buddies; Foxy has come to Nicki’s defense in feuds against Lil Kim and Remy Ma, and Nicki has dubbed Foxy “the only rapper she competes with.” They’re both Trinidadian-Americans from neighboring New York boroughs who have fought the testosterone-powered rap paradigm from the inside. They team up for the first time on “Coco Chanel,” from Nicki’s new album Queen, which she unceremoniously released today a week early. Through interplay, the two formidable rappers find the space where their styles meet and complement one another, building on years of mutual admiration. They bridge a generational divide with big-city swagger and island cool. With “Coco Chanel,” they take a classic dancehall riddim and warp it into a mean-mugging rap flexer. At her most dynamic, Nicki is a puncher who lands heavier blows than anybody. She has struggled to find balance and perspective in recent years, but she summons some of that command in these verses. As the drums stagger below, she unloads stacking cadences, emphasizing what her goons are capable of: “If they take your cocaine then they making crack of it/If they grab your gold chain then they make a plaque of it,” she snarls. It’s a far cry from her more delightfully unconventional writing, without the glow of her immensely colorful personality, but shows she is still capable of stinging barbs. Not to be outdone, Foxy Brown musters some of her hardest raps in a decade, leaning into the sway of the beat and bounding forth with threats for rap rivals. The two artists play off each other well, reveling in their mutual island roots and trading lingo. It’s that chemistry that makes “Coco Chanel” stand out as the crown jewel on Queen.

How Kanye West is becoming a billionaire two years after asking Mark Zuckerberg for $53 million to pay off his debt

Kanye West is reportedly a member of the ‘three-comma’ club, joining the ranks of sister-in-law Kylie Jenner... Kanye West could be the next billionaire... West’s apparel brand Yeezy, a partnership with Adidas, is said to be valued at close to $1.5 billion, The Blast reported. The 41-year-old rapper and fashion mogul partnered with Adidas in 2013 to launch his clothing and sneaker line, Yeezy — and since he’s a majority stakeholder, his personal net worth has reportedly also reached around a billion dollars. The “Fade” rapper, who debuted his new album “Ye” in June, dropped new Yeezy merch upon the release, including a line of T-shirts and hoodies that retailed for $65 to $145. He sold $500,000 worth of merch in just 30 minutes, his former manager Scooter Braun revealed at the album listening party in Wyoming. West’s wife, reality-star entrepreneur Kim Kardashian West, hinted to fans last week during an appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” that her husband would soon reach billionaire status. When asked if she was “almost a billionaire,” the “Keeping Up With The Kardashians” star replied, “I would say my husband is, so that makes me one right? Close by proximity.” Kardashian, meanwhile, is valued at $300 million, with television deals, her namesake cosmetics company, a video game and an emoji app. News of West’s net worth skyrocketing comes just two years after he revealed he was in financial trouble. The musician tweeted in 2016 that he was in $53 million in personal debt and asked for help from Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg: “Mark Zuckerberg invest 1 billion dollars into Kanye West ideas,” he wrote. Zuckerberg didn’t respond to the plea. West also seems to be keeping up with his sister-in-law Kylie Jenner, 21, who covered the July issue of Forbes magazine as the youngest self-made billionaire with a reported net worth of $900 million. The outspoken rapper has received his fair share of criticism for his fashion line. In 2016, media skewered his “Yeezy Season 4” fashion show after they were bussed out for a viewing on New York City’s Roosevelt Island during a show started nearly two hours late. Days later while performing at Harper’s Bazaar Icons ball, he gave the fashion crowd the finger during a performance before dropping the mic. The Chicago native predicted his massive fortune earlier this year. “We have 160 positions to fill by the end of the year,” he tweeted. “Yeezy will hit a billion dollars this year. It is the 2nd fastest growing company in history. It is a unicorn on its way to becoming a decacorn.”
