Whitney Houston’s Cousin Calls Kanye West ‘Disgusting’ For Using Her Bathroom Drug Photo On Album Cover

Kanye West made headlines this week when he spent $85K to buy a photo of Whitney Houston’s drug infested bathroom to put on the cover of the new Pusha T album he produced... The photo, which was shocking at the time of its original release in 2006, is said to be bringing back bad memories for Houston’s family. Now, Whitney Houston’s cousin, Damon Elliott, is speaking out in disgust over Kanye West’s decision to use the photo as the cover artwork for the new album, which is titled Daytona, and is already getting rave reviews from fans online. Elliot says that he found out about West’s purchase of the photo when his daughter called him to tell him about the album cover. Damon claims his daughter was “frantic” over the artwork, and that the entire situation brought him back to a dark place. Damon Elliot continued to speak out about Kanye West, whom he says he has worked with in the past. Elliot says that West invaded Whitney Houston and her family’s privacy by using the photo, and was shocked that the rapper would go that far. “I was actually in shock because I’m in the music business. I’ve watched the train wreck happening, but I didn’t think he’d go this far in invading someone’s family privacy.” Damon also reveals that he believes Kanye West used the drug photo as a “publicity stunt” to sell the album, and that his decision to put the photograph on the cover of the record has “hurt” his family, adding that it is “petty” and “tacky.” “To do something for a publicity stunt to sell records, it’s absolutely disgusting. It hurt my family and my daughter. It’s petty. It’s tacky.” Damon Elliot goes on to say that Whitney Houston “never did anything” to Kanye West, and that Kanye should have at least reached out to Whitney’s family before using the photo as the cover art. Now, Elliot says he wants to know why West used the photo, saying “it shows no creativity.” In addition, Damon Elliot says that Kanye West owes Whitney Houston’s family an apology, and wants him to use a different cover image for the album. “What were you thinking? Did you think this through? And if you did, why did you do this? Because you’re hurting people. It knocked the wind out of me last night. When someone passes, you try to mourn and move on and remember the good times.” Whitney Houston was found dead in a bathtub at the Beverly Hilton hotel back in 2012. Her death was ruled an accidental drowning. The autopsy confirmed that the iconic singer had multiple drugs in her system at the time of her death. Kanye West has yet to reply to Damon Elliot’s comments.

Morgan Freeman Is Accused of Sexual Harassment by Several Women

Morgan Freeman, one of the most celebrated actors in the film industry, has been accused of sexual harassment by several women, according to a report by CNN on Thursday. The accusations ranged from unwanted touching to sexually suggestive comments — on movie sets, in office environments and during meetings with the news media... One production assistant told CNN that she had endured several months of harassment while working on the set of “Going in Style,” a film released last year starring Mr. Freeman, Alan Arkin and Michael Caine. She said that on one occasion Mr. Freeman had tried to lift up her skirt until Mr. Arkin intervened. A woman described as a senior member of the production staff of “Now You See Me,” a 2013 movie, said Mr. Freeman would routinely comment on her physical appearance and that of her assistant. Three reporters said that Mr. Freeman made inappropriate comments to them during publicity events to promote coming films. One reporter, Chloe Melas of CNN, said that, during an interview last year for “Going in Style,” when she was six months pregnant, Mr. Freeman looked her up and down and told her, “You are ripe.” A camera caught Mr. Freeman saying “Boy, do I wish I was there,” directed toward Ms. Melas. CNN aired the video with the remark on Thursday.

Harvey Weinstein set to turn himself in on sex crime charges in New York NYPD

Harvey Weinstein is expected to surrender to authorities Friday to face charges related to alleged sexual misconduct in connection to a probe by the Manhattan District Attorney's office and NYPD, the Daily News has confirmed... The fallen former Hollywood honcho is facing charges in connection to at least one accuser — Lucia Evans — who reported to investigators that Weinstein forced her to perform oral sex on him in 2004, sources said. Because of the nature of the allegations, the statute of limitations does not apply. A special grand jury was also being presented with evidence related to possible financial fraud against Weinstein but it was not immediately clear if the charges include money mishandling allegations. The grand jury hearing Weinstein evidence was convened weeks ago, sources told The News. Weinstein has denied any wrongdoing. His attorney Benjamin Brafman declined to comment Thursday.

Let the canceling begin ... Kanye West's Australian Launch Canceled After No One Shows up — Literally No One

A collaboration between Kanye's Yeezy brand and the Australian sportswear brand 2XU kicked off on May 5 with an in-store launch in Paddington, Australia, but Life & Style has learned there was one big problem: No one showed up... Literally no one — after about 45 minutes, "it was canceled," a store employee who was there that day confirms it.... Previous Yeezy events Down Under had drawn massive crowds, but those were before Kanye, 40, stirred up controversy on May 1 by claiming that hundreds of years of slavery "sounds like a choice." Kanye's wife, Kim Kardashian, did her part to promote the Yeezy x 2XU Season 6 collection on Instagram. But that wasn't enough to prevent an empty store — and a whole lot of expensive neoprene leggings and bike shorts left on the racks.

John Wick 3 Has Officially Cast Halle Berry And More

The last we saw our favorite retired hitman and puppy avenger John Wick in John Wick: Chapter 2, he was in a world of trouble, having been declared officially excommunicado from the Continental and dealing with a global contract out on his head. When it releases next year, John Wick: Chapter 3 will pick up after the events of the last film and find Keanu Reeves' character facing countless threats with no sanctuary to turn to. Joining the action franchise this time around is Halle Berry. The Oscar-winning actress took to social media to confirm her role in the film, check it out: I am Sofia ? #johnwick3 @rikerbrothers A post shared by Halle Berry (@halleberry) on May 21, 2018 at 9:29am PDT We had heard that John Wick: Chapter 3 was eyeing Halle Berry for the female lead, but it is nice to finally get that official confirmation from the actress herself. We don't know much at this point other than that her character will be named Sofia and that she reportedly won't be the film's villain, suggesting she could be an ally for John Wick and potentially even a new love interest. Halle Berry is, of course no stranger to the action genre, having starred as a Bond girl in Die Another Day and just last year in the more comic-booky spy film Kingsman: The Golden Circle. But Halle Berry isn't the only talented actor being added to the cast for this next chapter either, as Angelica Huston and Asia Kate Dillon are also joining John Wick 3.

Spike Lee’s ‘BlacKkKlansman’ wins Grand Prix at Cannes

Film's most fashionable festival came to a close Saturday night with Brooklyn native Spike Lee bringing home the second-place prize. Lee's riotous "BlacKkKlansman," about an African-American police officer who successfully infiltrates a local Ku Klux Klan chapter, was awarded the Grand Prize at the Cannes Film Festival. "I take this on the behalf of the People's Republic of Brooklyn, New York," Lee said as he accepted the coveted award. Lee's movie tells the true-ish story of Det. Ron Stallworth, the first black cop in Colorado Springs, Colo., and his infiltration of the KKK. The film, which stars Denzel Washington's son John David Washington, along with help from Adam Driver and Laura Harrier, was produced by Jordan Peele, fresh off his success with "Get Out." It is loosely based on Stallworth's autobiography. Topher Grace appears as a smarmy former Klan grand wizard David Duke. The Cannes jury gave the film its second-highest honor at the festival, with jury president Cate Blanchett saying the movie is "quintessentially about an American crisis." "Obviously, this is an international film festival," Blanchett said at a press conference following the ceremony. "We talked a lot about when a film transcends the limitations of its culture. Spike has made a film that is quintessentially about an American crisis and yet all of us felt connected to it. That, we felt, really elevated its importance even more." Lee, 61, connects the film, set in the early 1970s, to today with real footage from last year's violent white supremacist march in Charlottesville, Va. The movie received a standing ovation from the black tie-clad crowd at the posh festival during its debut earlier in the week. It was Lee's first competition entry at Cannes since "Jungle Fever" in 1991. Beating "BlacKkKlansman" for the top spot at the 71st edition of the French Riviera extravaganza was Japanese director Hirokazu Kore-eda's "Shoplifters." The film, an understated story of a small-time thief who takes an abused young girl home to his family, won the top Palme d'Or award. While many speculated that the Blanchett-led jury might award only the second Palme d'Or to a film directed by a woman, the most likely contender — Lebanese director Nadine Labaki's "Capernaum" — was instead given Cannes' jury prize.

Texas official blames school shooting on too many exits and entrances....

Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick blamed Friday's massacre at a high school near Houston in part on "too many entrances and too many exits" on the campus, prompting some to mock his perspective as "door control." "From what we know, this student walked in ... with a long coat and a shotgun under his coat," said Patrick, a Republican who has an A+ rating from the National Rifle Association. "It's 90 degrees. Had there been one single entrance possibly for every student, maybe he would have been stopped." Patrick, who has previously pushed for open carry and concealed carry laws in Texas, made the comments during a news conference on the same day a 17-year-old student allegedly opened fire with a shotgun and a revolver at Santa Fe High School, killing 10 people and injuring at least 10 others. The firearms were owned by the suspect's father, Texas' governor has said. While Patrick also implored parents who own guns to lock them safely away, he focused his remarks not on weapons but on redesigning school entryways. In placing a focus on doors, Patrick seemingly fell in line with the powerful gun-lobbying group's strategy following school-shooting incidents of identifying possible ways -- apart from restricting firearms -- to make campuses safer. "There are too many entrances and too many exits to our over 8,000 campuses in Texas. There aren't enough people to put a guard in every entrance and exit," Patrick said, suggesting officials consider retrofitting existing schools to reduce doorways. Patrick's proposal drew criticism online, with some noting that it ignored the role of guns in the recent bloodshed.

Beyoncé and Cardi B in Bitter Feud Because Bey "Feels Threatened"

Cardi B name-drops Beyoncé no fewer than four times on her album Invasion of Privacy. But instead of being flattered, Beyoncé, 36, is feeling threatened by the rising rap star, 25. "Bey is worried about being dethroned by Cardi," an insider tells Life & Style. "She’s been complaining to [her husband] JAY-Z that Cardi is going out of her way to outshine her." Whether she’s trying to or not, Cardi doing some outshining. Beyoncé previously held a record-breaking 12 songs in the Billboard Hot 100 at once, but Cardi surpassed that with 13 songs in April. "Cardi’s career is goin from strength to strength," the insider notes. "Beyoncé is all smiles when she runs into Cardi, but behind closed doors, she’s worried." The singers nearly had a conflict in April, when Bey fired about 20 of her backup dancers and Cardi reportedly looked into hiring some of them for her Coachella performance. Ultimately, the "Bodak Yellow" hitmaker decided not to add to her dance crew, but "Beyoncé was furious just hearing about it,” the insider says. Even though Cardi is a Beyoncé superfan, she’s not afraid to go to war with her idol if she has to. "At the end of the day," says the insider, "Cardi won’t let anything or anyone, no matter how famous or powerful, get in her way."
